Easter in The Chosen: Redemption in Sight

What makes Easter special for you? Is it the arrival of spring, delicious food, or the sense of hope it brings? For many, Easter is about the profound impact of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.

Did you know that you can already experience the hope of Easter in The Chosen series? You can watch it for free here. While Easter takes center stage in later seasons, earlier episodes of The Chosen already offers a fresh perspective on stories that remind us of Easter. Let’s take you through a few episodes.

Season 1, Episode 1: Mary Magdalene — Called by Name

Do you know that feeling when someone truly sees you? Not just saying your name but knowing you deeply? That moment happened to Mary Magdalene in the very first episode of The Chosen. She was trapped in darkness—both literally and figuratively. But then… Jesus! He calls her by name—”Mary.” That moment! It almost mirrors Easter morning in John 20, where Mary Magdalene is the first to see the risen Jesus. “Mary,” He says, and that one word changes everything. It reminds us that Easter isn’t just about a grand event but about how Jesus desires to know each of us personally.

Season 1, Episode 7: A Serpent and a Cross

One of the most powerful moments in The Chosen is when Nicodemus and Jesus discuss Moses and the bronze serpent (John 3). Jesus refers to Numbers 21, where people are healed by looking at the serpent. He explains that He Himself “will be lifted up”—foreshadowing His coming death, where He will be nailed to a wooden cross and raised up. This episode invites you to reflect: How do you see the cross? As a place of suffering, or as a place where healing and redemption begin?

Season 2, Episode 4: The Contrast Between the Cross and Healing

The tension in this episode is almost tangible. While Jesus heals a man at Bethesda, we also see Zealots hanging from crosses—stark evidence of Roman cruelty. The contrast is striking: Jesus chooses healing, peace, and sacrifice, while the world clings to power and violence. This makes the Easter message even more powerful: a King who dies to bring life.

Season 2, Episode 7: Arrest and Confusion

Jesus’ arrest in this episode feels like a preview of Good Friday. The disciples are shocked, confused, and panicked—just as they were later in the garden when Jesus was taken away (Matthew 26:56). What strikes me is how real this feels. It reminds us that the road to Easter isn’t just triumph but also struggle, doubt, and sometimes failure. And yet, Jesus remains faithful.

Finding Easter in Your Own Life

If you dare to look closely, you’ll find Easter everywhere. A story of sacrifice, of deep and personal love, but also of redemption and freedom. You can see it not only in The Chosen, but maybe even in your own life. And if you don’t see it yet, perhaps you’re already longing for it. Because Easter is ultimately about the deep, personal impact of God calling you by name, bringing restoration, and inviting you into His story of redemption.

So, what will you do with Easter? Maybe you can experience a glimpse of it by watching The Chosen. So, grab a cup of coffee or tea, have an Easter egg, watch a few episodes, and let the story come to life for you. Who knows—maybe you’ll hear your name too!
