Festive Sounds: This is Helene Fischer’s New Children’s Album
Helene Fischer (41) is continuing her children’s album series. This Friday, the singer is releasing “Die schönsten Kinderlieder – Winter- und Weihnachtszeit”. The contemplative work follows “Die schönsten Kinderlieder” from 2024 and “Die schönsten Kinderlieder – Tanzen & Feiern”, which was released last September. For Fischer, it’s not her first album dedicated to the Christmas season.
Successful Album Ten Years Ago
In mid-November 2015, Helene Fischer released “Weihnachten”. The album featured her versions of German-language classics like “Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht”, “O du fröhliche” or “Ihr Kinderlein, kommet” and English perennials like “Winter Wonderland” or “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. The record reached number one on the German year-end charts of 2015, and Fischer received the award for “Album des Jahres” at the 2016 Echo Awards.
“I love the Christmas season and the special atmosphere it awakens in all of us”, Fischer says in a statement. “My album ‘Weihnachten’ is a musical declaration of love to this time, year after year. Now it’s a matter close to my heart to bring this magic into children’s rooms as well.” Fischer is also building on the success of her first Christmas album with her contemplative children’s album.
Because just like with the 2015 album, she worked with producer Alex Christensen (58). The 25-track record is intended to be a “festlicher Begleiter für Jung und Alt” and appeal not only to the youngest but also to parents or grandparents. Included on the album, which also comes with a sound book and a karaoke CD, are “O Tannenbaum”, “Lasst uns froh und munter sein”, or “Süßer die Glocken nie klingen”. There are also German versions of international classics: “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” becomes “Lass’ es schneien”, “Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer” becomes “Rudolph, das kleine Rentier”, or “Frosty the Snowman” becomes “Frosty, der Schneemann”.
Duet with Children’s Song Icon
In addition, Fischer has teamed up with a children’s song icon for her album. Rolf Zuckowski (78) accompanies Fischer in a duet on “Bald ist Weihnachten”. “I adapted my song ‘Inseln der Stille’ for Helene Fischer’s new album with a Christmas message to the children and families”, the musician explains.
Zuckowski is pleased that Helene Fischer, together with him and the children’s choir Blankenäschen, can “dem Fest und seiner tieferen Bedeutung auf die Spur kommen kann”.
And how did the collaboration come about? Zuckowski explained this in einem Instagram-Clip: “Last year at the Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights, I had the pleasure of being greatly honored by Helene and the Blankenäschen with a medley of my songs. Then Helene told me that my songs have a lot of meaning in her life, also with her children. That made me very happy and I said: ‘Maybe we’ll sing a duet together sometime.’ And it came to pass!”
