Heidi Klum announced the exciting news that she’s adopted a six-month-old pup named Fritz.  However, the supermodel said it took convincing on her part to bring her husband, Tom Kaulitz, around to the decision.

The mother-of-four took to Instagram this week to introduce her fur baby to the world. “Adopted this 6 month old fluff ball Fritz. This week , next to our Film Studio was a pop up Adoption place with over 50 Dogs. As the day went on most dogs found a home but this little scraggly fluff ball was still in his cage. It took me some convincing with my husband as I know he is right …. But I could not leave him behind,” she penned alongside a video.

The post showed Heidi walking through the streets of New York City with Fritz nestled in a sling against her. The German native opted for a cozy ensemble as she donned an ivory-hued fuzzy coat, which was layered over a matching sweatpant set. Her luscious blonde locks were left down in soft waves and she accessorized with a beige cap and oversized sunglasses.

Heidi has been married to guitarist Kaulitz since 2019. The model shares four kids, Leni, Henry, Johan, and Lou, with her ex-husband, Seal.

Heidi Klum’s parenting style

During an interview with People, the Project Runway host shared that she was happiest devoting everything she could to being a good parent and also creating a safe space for her four children to thrive.

“I love having a house where they feel safe,” she continued. “My son was barbecuing with his friends in the backyard the other day and doing all the things I taught him. It was so cute. For me, it’s always the more, the merrier. I like it when they’re all at home.”

“When they’re young, you’re worried they’re going to jump in the pool or stick their finger in a socket,” she said, saying that next comes the “driving,” and “then it’s sex, drugs and rock and roll.”

“You hope the seed you planted in them grows,” she shared. “That they’re good people. That they’re healthy. But you always worry. And I know I’ll still be worrying when I’m 80.”

She continued: “Sometimes someone will come to me and say, ‘I just met your son. He is the kindest, nicest young man.’ That makes me feel good. Because no one has to say that.”

Family mediator and parenting specialist, Paige Harley, previously spoke to us about the emotional landscape of blended families, such as Heidi’s. “In my experience, blended families function best when step-parents focus on building connection rather than stepping into an authority role right away or at all,” she said. “Kids really don’t need a second ‘parent’, what they respond to most is a calm, steady adult who helps them feel safe. When there’s tension between homes, that neutral presence can make a huge difference.”
