Heidi Klum Wears The Patchwork Denim Trend And Recalls A Client Not Wanting To Work With Her After She Became Pregnant: ‘It Was A Challenge’

Heidi Klum is the latest star to embrace the patchwork denim trend. In an Instagram reel promoting Hoppers, she showcased a chic yet relaxed look that combined fashion-forward denim with cozy touches.
The supermodel‘s long maxi skirt featured a mix of light- and dark-wash denim patches, cinched at the waist with a brown belt. She paired it with a patterned sweater for a comfortable, stylish vibe and wore her dark hair down with bangs framing her forehead.

The patchwork denim trend has quickly become a favorite among celebrities and influencers, including Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes, Jennifer Aniston, Natalie Portman, and sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid. Drawing inspiration from its 1970s bohemian roots, the trend appears in everything from jeans and skirts to bags, often paired with blazers or simple, understated tops for a modern, chic look.
Klum is lending her voice to the German dub of the upcoming Disney/Pixar film Hoppers, set to release in March 2026. She voices “Hai-Di The Shark,” a friendly, shark-like character whose name is a playful nod to the supermodel herself.
Heidi recently opened up about the challenges of being visibly pregnant on TV during her early Project Runway years.
In a recent Paper Magazine cover shoot, she posed with her two eldest children, daughter Leni, 21, and son Henry, 20.
“I have to say, because my kids are here right now too. You didn’t see a lot of pregnant women on television. It was a big thing at the time,” she said. “I was pregnant with all my kids always on the show, and it was a challenge for me because pregnancy clothes were really hard to find at the time.”

“So that’s why I started having a pregnancy line because of that, because it’s like, what am I gonna wear? I’m not hiding in the house pregnant,” she continued. “I’m on the stage, I’m on TV, and it’s a show about fashion; I need to have good things!”
The 52-year-old launched two maternity clothing lines in 2010—Lavish by Heidi Klum (for A Pea in the Pod) and Loved by Heidi Klum (for Motherhood Maternity). These collections offered stylish, comfortable options, including jeans, tees, and leggings, for expectant mothers and are now often found on resale sites.
“I remember I had one client. When I was pregnant, they did not want to work with me anymore,” she recalled. “They thought that I was not sexy anymore because I was now a mother. I was defined before children as being a sexy woman, and now with a child, as being a mom.” She added, “That I no longer deserved to have that… that title,” she continued. “That could also not be part of me any longer.”
Klum is a mother of four and has been married three times. She is currently married to musician Tom Kaulitz (m. 2019). Her children include Leni (born 2004, with Flavio Briatore) and Henry (b. 2005), Johan (b. 2006), and Lou (b. 2009) with her ex-husband Seal.
